Déstructuralisme Figuratif
Par Karine Langevin

« Joining DF Art Project felt like a natural step for me. Its spirit resonates deeply with my artistic approach: I see deconstruction as a space for emotional, narrative, and symbolic exploration. Through DF, I am able to engage with artists who, like me, seek to move beyond appearances in order to uncover deeper layers of identity.
Through my portraits, I explore the complexity of being — its contradictions, impulses, wounds, and transformations. The ethos of DF gives me the freedom to fragment and layer signs so as to reveal what lies beneath the visible. My faces are not mere representations; they are revelations. They carry stories, memories, and traces of inner worlds. I want each work to exist as a sensitive enigma, charged with emotional vibration.
My practice revolves around archetypal figures — the mirror-woman, the urban muse, the pop icon, the world-face — which I deconstruct and reinvent. The visual codes of glamour, musical references, fragments of text, barcodes, and vinyl records all become part of a personal language. The enlarged gaze plays a central role: it captures, questions, and reflects. My works are inhabited by contemporary signs intertwined with older symbols, creating a tension between memory and immediacy.
I want the viewer to be touched by emotion before seeking explanation. My works are open doors to universal narratives, visual pathways through which each person may project their own stories and inner images. I do not aim to impose meaning, but rather to create resonance. Interpretation remains open, shifting, and deeply personal.
In my ongoing search for a stronger visual impact, I am currently experimenting with new resins. Pigments, colours, and inks are being reworked to bring greater depth and intensity to the pieces. New objects are also being incorporated into my paintings according to the themes explored. The next series will engage with futurism, mythology, and travel. Several exhibitions are currently in preparation, both solo and group shows, in France and internationally. I also continue to welcome visitors during open studio events at my workshop in Gif-sur-Yvette.
These imaginary worlds call to be unveiled in order to restore humanity to an increasingly dehumanised contemporary world. Transforming reality in this way is also a means of exposing the illusion of our perceptions and the fragility of our beliefs. It is a way of showing how powerful and pervasive our collective fantasies can be — so real, at times, that they continue to shape conflict and division.
What I seek is to bring together a shared vision of the world: reality is not simply what appears, but what truly is. Essence prevails over appearance, and art has the power to reconfigure what we think we know. To transform reality together is to bring our imaginary worlds into being through the work itself.
Relational practice, socially engaged art, and cultural mediation are central to my commitment. They are ways of re-enchanting the spaces we inhabit and of building connections with other artists and communities. When we create together — beyond language, beyond difference, beyond the challenges of our contemporary world — art has the power to soothe, reconcile, and unite. And when we come together, our voices carry further and stronger.
