The Eerie Familiarity of Reality

“Intensity is what I seek to express through my work, I am preoccupied with the transformation of what we take to be real. When I remove my spectacles, everything changes, becomes othered, and a different reality appears, one with an eerie familiarity.

The notion of the figure has always permeated my work, it emerged as self-evident, ever since my very first drawings. A ‘landscape’ as much as a ‘person’, a carnation and an efflorescence, the figure forms the basis of the soul, a foundation upon which every emotion, feeling and shiver may become flesh – outer-inner, cry-silence, absence-presence.
